Safety Essentials
At Asomtom Bikes, your safety and the safety of those around you is our top priority. We want you to enjoy your electric bike safely and reliably for years to come. Please read and follow the safety advice below and in your Owner's Manual.
WARNING 1:
DO NOT modify anything in your ebike's electrical system, battery, digital controls, physical components, or drive train. Doing so may void your warranty, cause damage to your vehicle or other property, or result in injury or death to you or others.
WARNING 2:
Our electric bikes are not suitable for anyone under 16 years old. Children under 16 may lack the necessary skills and judgment to operate the bike safely, potentially causing damage to the bike, other property, serious injury, or even death. It is your responsibility to know and comply with local regulations regarding operator age and other qualifications.
DANGER:
Wear a helmet
Riding an electric bike or similar vehicle without a helmet puts you at a VERY HIGH RISK of serious head injury or death. Always wear a properly fitted helmet that covers the forehead. Please familiarize yourself and comply with the laws, rules, and regulations where you ride.
Safety First
Operating any vehicle involves some risk of serious injury or death. Your safety while operating an electric bike depends on your skill, the bike's maintenance, and operating conditions. To minimize risk, follow the guidelines below for the safest, most enjoyable riding experience possible.
Read your Owner's Manual
Your Owner's Manual contains essential information to ensure you have the safest experience with your new electric bike. Please read it thoroughly before riding.
Have a professional perform or check your assembly
If your electric bike is not assembled correctly and fitted to your body, or if its fasteners are not torqued to the values listed in your Owner's Manual, you put yourself at greatly increased risk of serious injury or death. We recommend having a professional bike mechanic assemble your ebike. If you assemble your bike yourself, have a professional double-check your work.
Perform a safety check before each ride
Before each ride, perform a full safety check of your electric bike. Check the seat, handlebar, battery, brakes, wheels, tires, chain, and all moving parts. Follow the instructions in your Owner's Manual and ensure all bolts and other fasteners are tightened according to the specified torque values. Your Owner's Manual includes a comprehensive safety checklist tailored to your electric bike model. Review that information before riding your bike.
Follow service interval and other maintenance guidelines
Every electric bike has a "break-in" period of about 50-100 miles and needs a professional mechanical check afterward. Some parts of your bike may experience normal wear and tear and need periodic servicing and/or replacement. Appropriate service intervals are listed in your Owner's Manual.
Take it slow
An electric bike is heavier and more powerful than a non-electric bike. It takes time and practice to get used to your electric bike and feel confident riding it in different conditions. For your first few rides, start at low speed and low PAS level (0 or 1). Gradually increase your speed and motor assistance until you are comfortable with the PAS, throttle, and braking features. Then you can ride on shared roads and bike paths.
